This Week on Instagram: What Was Breakfast, Rhymefest, and a Puppy Video!

This week, 1871 had guest photographer, Alan, of @whatsforbreakfast stop by this week asking our members 'what was breakfast?'. Alan had the opportunity to feature many of our members as well as the 1871 team in his photo essay project. This collaboration allowed us and our members to see new faces and learn about their businesses. Also this week, Rhymefest & Donnie of Donda's House stopped by to visit our space, and we bid farewell to our visitors from Tel Aviv University.

Hi I'm Alan, I have a photo essay called @whatwasbreakfast where I take portraits of people around town and ask them what they had for breakfast. This week I'm dropping by 1871 to ask their members two questions, "What was breakfast and what do you do?" . "Two eggs, yogurt and a banana." "Did you have anything to drink?" "Water, and then some kind of weird, I can't think of the name of the juice, it had chia seeds in it, it was strange." "What do you do at 1871?" "I'm a graphic designer slash office manager slash social media coordinator within a marketing team here at 1871."

"So I had some breakfast quiche that somebody brought for the whole 1871 crew today." "What do you do at 1871?" "So I started a company called @movewize and it is a moving services marketplace place so you can instantly go on, find, compare and book movers, just like you would on a travel search engine like Travelocity or Kayak."

"A chocolate protein shake with a dollop of peanut butter." "What do you do at 1871?" "I'm a co-founder of Breakwater Chicago. We're developing a floating entertainment destination for Lake Michigan, it will have 3 restaurants, a night club, 8 pools, a spa, and some retail, all floating out on the lake on a football field sized vessel."

I'm a creature of habit, I make scrambled eggs and I do avocado toast and I put the eggs on top of the toast." "What kind of toast is it?" "Whole wheat." "What do you do at 1871?" "I run a start up called Wise Apple so we make healthy and balanced lunch for kids and snacks for kids."

"Do you work at the same place?" "Yes." "What do you do?" "We work at a company called ReturnRunners, it's an on demand return service for retail merchandise. I'm the CEO and co-founder, and Sammy works in our marketing department."

They've been members of 1871 for I think just about the same amount of time I've been with 1871 and its really cool to see how they have grown from 2 people in shared membership to now expanding to a total of 8 people and even having some space in reserved. - @itookanotherphoto

Her company creates immersive virtual reality experiences that allow hopeful pet adopters get to know a pet beyond more than a photo. We followed Erica to @barkavechicago to get footage of her recording @nlolchicago's Florence Daisy, a lovable American Staffordshire & American Bulldog mix looking for a forever home.
