This Week on Instagram: World Entrepreneurs' Day, Momentum Countdown, and an Eclipse

This week in Instagram: 1871 started off the week right by bringing the team together to view the Solar Eclipse. The last time a total eclipse was visible from coast to coast in the US was on June 8th, 1918. Our team was lucky enough to snag viewing glasses to catch the event in full effect.

We also celebrated World Entrepreneurs Day by linking up with our fellow Google for Entrepreneurs startup communities in a short video to say "Hello", and encourage entreprenuers everywhere to keep building. 1871 is well on it's way into the Momentum countdown as well, only 69 days left till 10x!

#DailyGreg . "It's no secret that right now, @netflix's series #houseofcards is my current obsession. The story is great, the cinematography is beautiful and if there's any actor who can effectively break the fourth wall (Aside from @WWE's @CMPunk) it's Kevin Spacey." . "That being said, I always draw photo inspiration from what I watch or what is around me, so I have this photo of Senator Dick Durbin from Friday's press conference with @ihccbusiness regarding the protection of #DACA." . "While Senator Durbin was off to the side while another gentleman spoke, I got this photo and tried to edit it how it may look if #DavidFincher got his hands on it--and then realized, Senator Durbin's profile bears a striking physical resemblance to Spacey's." -@m0t1ey

"It is really special to produce events for a Chicago institution like 1871. This place is truly where it happens for the tech community -- where we gather, collaborate and share ideas. Loads of inspiring people come through our doors and I ask them to share what they've learned along the way and pass along some words of wisdom. This is #TalktoJeanne." . She jokingly referred to herself as a "barnacle in state government" but Paula Wolff is a legend. It was a true honor to sit down with her and discuss the role of technology in the #criminaljustice system. The way we collect data, what we do with that data -- everything is on the table for the Illinois Justice Project. . Paula, Director of the IJP, visited 1871 to discuss criminal justice reform as part of the Summer of Social Impact Series hosted by @uchicago @harrispolicy. Their next event , "Machine Learning & Public Policy", is this Monday, 8/28. . The Harris School will offer a #MA in Public Policy evening program at 1871 in January.
