About Thyng: Thyng is developing an Augmented Reality platform that allows users to create personalized, unique and engaging experiences through the use of both surface-based AR and target-based AR. Surface-based AR allows virtual items like 3D objects, photos, and videos to be placed onto any surface in the real world, like a table, a counter top, or a floor. Target-based AR provides the ability to scan a specific item like a product or logo to trigger a Thyng augmented reality experience overlaid onto that real-world item. The ability to support both surface-based AR and target-based AR provides consumers and brands with an amazing combination of AR functionality to create unique and exciting experiences. Thyng is based in Chicago and was founded in 2014 with the vision of creating a new type of augmented reality platform that would allow everyone to use AR as a communications medium.

Role Overview: We are looking for a Vice President of Marketing to join our team who can take ownership of the marketing of Thyng Augmented Reality software and solutions to both consumer and business markets. The VP of Marketing will be responsible for driving brand awareness, driving app downloads, and driving corporate engagements. The role will include the development of a cohesive marketing plan, and responsibility for making sure target marketing metrics are met.

You should be highly motivated, a self-starter, and a natural leader. You should have proven experience developing and executing successful marketing plans, marketing mobile apps to the consumer market, and marketing solutions to the corporate market. You should preferably have a background in augmented reality, virtual reality, gaming, entertainment, media, or similar technology area.

The VP of Sales and Services will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing and managing client relationships, and delivering client solutions on time and on budget. The role will also include making sure financial targets are met, and that the right team is in place to meet the needs of our corporate clients.

You should be highly motivated, a self-starter, and a natural leader. You should have proven experience selling custom solutions to Fortune 1000 clients, leading sales teams, and delivering custom solutions on time and on budget. You should have a background in augmented reality, virtual reality, gaming, entertainment, media, application development, or similar technology area.

Role Overview: We are looking for a 3D Modeler/Animator to join our team who is a self-starter, and who is able to take ownership and deliver imaginative solutions. The successful candidate will have 2 to 5 years of experience as a 3D Modeler/Animator. The role requires the development of 3D models and animations for use in Augmented Reality environments, using Blender (or equivalent 3D program), and Photoshop (or equivalent 2D program). The role involves developing 3D assets for internal apps, and for client apps.

You should be highly motivated and a self-starter. You should have proven experience developing 3D models and animations on time and on budget. You should preferably have a background developing 3D assets in the areas of augmented reality, virtual reality, gaming, entertainment, or other similar application area.

  • Python Engineer | Transparent Energy

Role Overview: We are looking for a for an engineer to assist in all aspects of our web-based platform. The candidate need not be from an energy background, but it would be helpful to know energy concepts (Kwh energy usage v. KW demand, LMP real time and day-ahead pricing, futures contracts, etc.). Hands-on training will take place with current lead engineer, and new hire will gain experience with our systems until he/she is completely onboarded.

The new hire will be responsible for maintenance, testing/debugging, deployment backup/disaster recovery, amending and/or initiating new features to existing platform, software service continuity, among other responsibilities. New hire will have support staff to help with some backend tasks, but must be able to work autonomously and tolerate strict deadlines. Knowledge of software development life cycle and product management is a plus.
