1871 Partners With Reboot Career Accelerator for Women

ReBoot Career Accelerator for Women will become the newest private education program to serve members of 1871; Focus on getting women current, connected, and confident to return to work

1871 announced today a partnership with Silicon-Valley based, Reboot Career Accelerator for Women. ReBoot is an 8-session series designed to educate, inspire, and empower women to restart their careers and pursue new goals. The program ultimately strives to assist women in updating their skills in office technologies and connects them to other like-minded women in order to build their confidence in taking the next step in their career. Many returning women are interested in pursuing their own start-ups, so 1871 is a perfect place for women to ReBoot.

“At 1871, we believe that you can’t have innovation without inclusion,” said 1871 COO, Tom Alexander. “We want our community to be reflective of the rich diversity that exists in Chicago and the ReBoot Career Accelerator aids in that mission. This new addition to the private education programs at 1871 helps to change the conversation around women in technology, and shines a light on the access to resources available to the growing ecosystem of women pursuing entrepreneurship.”

The news of this collaboration comes just weeks after a recent report in Chicago Inno listing Chicago as having the highest percentage of female entrepreneurs. ReBoot Accelerator will further the mission of inclusion at 1871 by providing women with access to new skills and available resources in the rapidly growing Chicago tech ecosystem. Additionally, this partnership provides local female residents currently possessing limited or no access to business programs for women an opportunity to become proficient in business skills.

Based in Silicon Valley, over 300 women have completed the ReBoot program, and it is rapidly expanding across the country.  Chicago is the second location to host ReBoot, and it will be subsequently offered in Seattle and NYC this fall.  “We are overwhelmed with interest from women who want to return to work, but don’t know where to start,” said co-Founder & Executive Vice President, Diane Flynn. “By giving them a high-tech, high-touch experience, we greatly increase their confidence and connections.  Our success rate in placing these women in both part-time and full-time work is encouraging.”

1871 welcomes and continues to seek opportunities for women entrepreneurs to thrive. As the largest tech incubator in the United States, 1871 has continued its efforts in growing the number of female owned business through WiSTEM,  a cutting-edge program designed to foster opportunities for women in technology. Many of the events hosted in the space focus on the current issues faced by women in technology and business. Access to education has also been instrumental in supporting the mission of the organization. The ReBoot Career Accelerator brings the total number of private education programs available to 1871 members and the Chicago community to approximately 12.
