For this week's Our 1871, we chat with new 1871 member Pete Lee, VP Sales, who joined LiveTiles this year to help grow the company in the U.S. with Chicago as a focus. LiveTiles gives developers and business users tools to easily create dashboards, employee portals, and corporate intranets that can be further enhanced by artificial intelligence and analytics features.
Entrepreneurship is hard. What is your main quality that helps you persevere when the going gets tough?
Self awareness. Know your limitations both for happiness and balance, know when to ask for help, and know when you need a break.
Speaking of tough, there are probably plenty of times where you've been knocked down. How do you approach challenges and adversity?
I keep moving forward. Don't beat yourself up... nothing is personal, treat everything as a learning experience; you're always harder on yourself then others.
What's the most important lesson you've learned as an entrepreneur?
Listen and be open. Even if you think you are, others don't think like you or have your passion. Be open and empathetic and patient.
How are you making the world a better place?
AI is inherently unbiased and fair to everyone, and it's our job to keep it that way – We need to think about ethics in everything we do.
Right now AI is mainly for business, but it could be free for schools or public services.
