1871 Presents: Honorary Logos

In honor of 1871’s second anniversary today, we began debuting commemorative new logos in honor of landmark events and special guests. In creating and presenting these logos, we have an opportunity to mark our history and create lasting memories of these special events, all of which are designed for the purpose of the organization – to foster technology growth and opportunity throughout Chicago.

The logos we debuted today, featured in our Honorary Logos gallery, are in honor of two momentous occasions: Facebook COO and Lean In author Sheryl Sandberg’s visit to our downtown Chicago Merchandise Mart space and 1871’s second anniversary.

Each logo, made using our ever-evolving 1871 stencil, represents the occasion for which it was created. The “Rosie” logo honors Sheryl Sandberg’s outstanding work to create opportunity for women in technology and her lasting impact on American business. Our second anniversary logo consists of pieces of the mural painted on 1871’s walls over the course of our community’s time in the Merchandise Mart space. Both logos are representative of the important strides 1871 has taken over the past two years to support a vibrant and innovate technology community in Chicago.

We look forward to upholding the tradition of creating these honorary logos and cannot wait to see what’s in store for 1871’s third year.
